Clark Fork River Easy Scenic Rafting

Easy Scenic Floating Through the Tarkio Canyon

Clark Fork Easy Scenic Rafting

Rafting

Easy Floating & Fun Waves 4 & Older

The steep canyon shadows awe and inspire everyone we take down this stretch of the Clark Fork River. Known by locals as Tarkio Canyon, the beauty will silence you.

History Along the River

Old Chinese-built footings from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad still hold railroad tracks in place. Enormous, house-size rocks and deep, cold channels swirl peacefully underneath the centuries of history slowly being buried by nature. These old mining towns no longer survive, but an old cable car still whispers the stories of many an old timer. You can’t see any of this fascinating antiquity from the road.

Keep Your Eyes Open for the Unexpected!

You’ll see deer, eagles, beaver and the occasional elk, moose or bear as your cares drift away. This trip will relax, entertain, and inspire young and old alike. This trip is the safest, driest option for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the river without the whitewater of the Alberton Gorge, Pangaea’s most popular trip on the Clark Fork River.

Enjoy a Few Waves!

The Tarkio Canyon on the Clark Fork River doesn’t have the kind of whitewater like the Alberton Gorge, but it does have three milder rapids that you can blast through or avoid, depending on your mood. Your guide will get you wet and entertain the kids if you want to introduce them to what whitewater rafting is like.

What to Expect?

First, you’ll meet at Pangaea River Rafting river store right on the Clark Fork River. After greeting you at your car, a Pangaea guide will ask you to sign a waiver, change into your river clothes, fit you with a life jacket (PFD), brief everyone about our safety procedures before getting into a Pangaea shuttle vehicle for the quick 10 minute drive to the put-in.

Shoving Off

At the river, your guide will secure last minute gear, double check your life jackets, show you how to sit in the raft, and then invite everyone to get into the raft. Then, you’re off on your Montana river adventure!

On The Water

You’ll float for approximately 2 hours on the water, with a 30 minute stop for lunch. The river section allows for swimming, squirt gun battles, boat games, or just sitting back and relaxing. Along the way, the provides a few fun waves that your guide can steer the boat through or avoid depending on your desire to get splashed (or not). The trip ends directly across the street from Pangaea River Rafting and your vehicle.
