Clark Fork: Whitewater to Wine & Beer

Whitewater & Wine (or Beer) Tasting Together on One Trip!

We created the Clark Fork River whitewater and wine float for the wild at heart and for those with a heart for all that is wild. Paddle through the Alberton Gorge’s thrilling Class III rapids, then drift into a scenic stretch where your raft transforms into a floating tasting room. With delicious food, a stemless souvenir wine glass, and flowing Montana wine or local craft beer, it’s a river trip unlike any other.

Whitewater, Wine & Beer

We created the Clark Fork River whitewater and wine float for the wild at heart and for those who have a heart for all that is wild. Enjoy nature, wine, mouth-watering food, and whitewater river rafting through the Alberton Gorge. First, we paddle and row through the famous Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork River, home of famous whitewater river rafting. After the last rapid, we install a small table in the middle of the raft, serving food and wine as you sit in the raft, listening to the current and history of the world around you. Swim or float if you want, it’s your trip!

What’s a Whitewater to Wine & Beer Float Like?

All trips on the Clark Fork River meet at Pangaea’s River Store on the Clark Fork River (see directions below). Some of our world-famous guides will meet and greet you at your car. After changing into proper river wear and signing waivers, you’ll get fitted for a life jacket and paddle. Once you’re ready to go, the guides will lead you through a brief safety talk before getting into a Pangaea vehicle for a quick 15-minute drive to the Cyr Bridge boat ramp on the Clark Fork River.

Stop at Fish Creek

Pangaea’s regular whitewater trips stop beside the crystal clear waters of Fish Creek for a mouth-watering lunch. Pangaea river lunch has become somewhat famous over the years: hot baked potatoes, flame-seared grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, cheese, bacon bits, fresh watermelon, and homemade brownies. You’ll load up a plate, fill up your wine glass, and begin the second part of your trip.

Wine Tasting Like You’ve Never Done Before!

After all the whitewater, we pop the corks and break out the wine glasses on the last mild and scenic stretch of the river. You’ll trade your paddle for Pangaea’s free gift to you, a stemless “Leave Boring Behind!” wine glass, which we’ll fill up multiple times on the wine portion of your whitewater to wine trip.

Itinerary

You’ll meet your guides at the Pangaea River Store, where you’ll sign waivers, gear up in river attire, and get outfitted with a paddle and life jacket. After a short safety briefing, you’ll hop in a Pangaea shuttle for a quick 15-minute drive to the Cyr Bridge boat ramp.

Your adventure begins with the adrenaline of classic whitewater rafting—six major Class III rapids, a handful of Class II waves, and scenic floating through Alberton Gorge. Stop for some high-energy fun at jump rock before heading to the riverside lunch spot near Fish Creek. Enjoy a hot lunch of flame-seared chicken, baked potatoes with all the fixings, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and homemade brownies. After lunch, the tone shifts to relaxation as you float into a scenic stretch and begin your wine or beer tasting, sipping from your souvenir stemless glass while surrounded by Montana’s wild beauty.

You’ll float right back to Pangaea’s base, where your trip concludes with a post-trip happy hour. Rewatch the day’s best rapids on the flat-screen TV, swap stories with fellow guests, and start planning your next river escape.
