You’ll meet your guide early in the morning at our designated put-in location near Spokane. After a short safety talk and getting geared up with life jackets, we’ll load into the rafts and prepare to quietly slip into nature’s morning rhythms.
Your guide will row the raft downstream as you float past lush riverbanks and beneath open skies. You’ll move slowly and quietly—ideal for spotting birds like herons, ospreys, songbirds, and hawks. Expect calm waters, peaceful views, and plenty of opportunities to observe wildlife in its natural habitat.
At the take-out point, your guide will help you unload and review any standout sightings. You’ll leave with a renewed appreciation for the region’s wild beauty and some fantastic memories (and photos!) of a morning well spent.
Dress in layers to stay comfortable during the cool early morning hours. Wear shoes that can get a little wet, and don’t forget sun protection. Binoculars and a birding field guide are highly recommended for the best experience.
Nope! Your guide does all the rowing, so you can focus entirely on watching and listening for birds.
Depending on the season, common sightings include ospreys, great blue herons, bald eagles, kingfishers, and various songbirds and waterfowl.
Spring and early summer offer the greatest variety of bird species. By late summer, bird activity may slow, but larger birds like hawks and eagles are still commonly spotted.
Yes! As long as they’re (mature) 10 or older and able to sit still for a couple of hours, this trip is great for families and curious young naturalists.
